Raised beds are characterised by a raised bed area and are a variant of natural horticulture. In our raised beds, you can grow a variety of ornamental plants, herbs or vegetables. The home-grown food not only tastes particularly good, but also offers you certainty about origin and ingredients. The raised bed and its variations in urban gardening are particularly popular.

Our raised beds offer you many advantages. The most obvious advantage is the better ergonomics for the gardener or gardener. Thanks to their pleasant height, the large planter boxes allow for knee- and back-friendly gardening. In addition, raised beds are very space-saving and can be used regardless of the existing soil properties. They are suitable for use in small gardens, on patios or even on balconies. Especially when planted our raised beds are a real eye-catcher. In addition, raised beds are more productive than other types of beds. On the one hand, the rotting heat within the raised bed promotes plant growth, on the other hand, there are fewer weeds and almost no snails in raised beds. With the right cold frame attachment, raised beds can also be used as a cold frame.

To get the maximum yield from the raised bed, there are a lot to consider. If the raised bed is placed directly on the ground, such as Our Douglas fir raised bed, a vole grid should definitely be attached to the bottom of the raised bed. This prevents the rodents from nesting in the lower layers and nibbling their plants. Then the raised bed should be filled with the following layers:

1. Layer: tree pruning and shrub cutting (small branches and branches)

2. Layer: lawn cuttings and/or leaves (possibly also lawn sodes)

3. Layer: semi-ripe compost (a good addition is semi-rotted manure)

4. Layer: Garden soil or Topsoil or mature compost

The size of the layers varies depending on the size of the raised bed. The individual layers of organic materials will rot over time and provide nutrients to the plants and vegetables. In addition, the rotting process creates heat, which also benefits the growth of the plants and allows earlier sowing compared to classic soil beds.
